Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and How to report it.
Understanding Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
As we work together to keep our communities safe and peaceful, it’s important to know what Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) is and how we can help you if you are experiencing it.
What is ASB?
In simple terms, ASB is any behaviour that causes harassment, alarm, or distress to others. It is more than just a one-off disagreement; it is conduct that makes people feel unsafe or unhappy in their own homes.
Examples of ASB include:
- Constant loud noise (like shouting or very loud music late at night).
- Aggressive or threatening behaviour.
- Vandalism, graffiti, or deliberate damage to property.
- Drug use or illegal activity in communal areas.
How to Report ASB
If you are experiencing ASB, please tell us as soon as possible. You can report it in two ways:
- Call our Contact Centre: Speak to our team directly on 0808 164 7474.
- Talk to your Officer: Contact your Housing & Support Officer directly. They know your scheme well and can give you specific advice and support you through your case.
How We Handle ASB Reports
It is important to understand that reporting ASB is not the same as making a formal complaint against Ability Housing.
- Reporting ASB: This is when you ask us to step in and deal with a neighbour or a problem in your area. We use our “ASB Procedures” to investigate and try to solve the issue.
- Making a Complaint: Our formal “Complaints Process” is only used if you are unhappy with how we handled your ASB case. For example, if you feel we didn’t follow our own rules or took too long to get back to you.
In short: If you have a problem with a neighbour, report it as ASB. If you have a problem with how we helped you, you can then use the Complaints Process.
Remember: If you are ever in immediate danger or see a crime happening, please always call 999 for the police first.
